Winter Discount: 50% Off on Select Classes

We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for our local community. Locals are eligible for a 50% Winter Discount on select classes taking place from January through March.

From December 1 to January 15 at noon, The John C. Campbell Folk School is offering a 50% discount on tuition for local residents on a wide variety of classes happening from January through March. Be sure to check out the How To Apply and Rules below!

To qualify you must show proof of local residency (such as a driver’s license, voter registration, tax, or utility bill) when creating your Configio account, before you sign up for a class. Once your application is approved, secure your spot from a select list of upcoming classes. Class space is limited and local-status approval can take up to 48 hours, so start your application process today! Discount ends Thursday, January 15 at 12 p.m.

NOTICE: The Winter Discount (50%) applies to the following areas/counties: North Carolina: Cherokee, Clay, Macon, Swain, Jackson, and GrahamGeorgia: Fannin, Towns, Union, Gilmer, and RabunTennessee: Polk.

Before your discount can be applied, you must register and complete the application for local-status. Follow the steps below, and once approved, the 50% discount will be applied automatically at check out.

Note: If you have already established a local-residency to your Configio account, you do not need to reapply, and your discount will be applied at checkout.

The  Winter Local Discount cannot be retroactively applied if you are already enrolled in a class.

Step 1: Visit Configio and Create Account

Configio is our new online registration system for all Folk School classes. Visit the registration portal and register for an account. You will receive a confirmation email once your account has been created.

Step 2: Fill Out Application

Click “Discount Programs Application” in the top navigation menu to apply. The application is simple and easy. Registering once means your discount automatically applies each time you register for an eligible class.

Step 3: Upload Verification

Upload a photo or a scan of your qualifications for tuition to Configio’s applicant portal. Check the guidelines above for document specifications. Once you’ve uploaded the file, click “Complete Application.”

Step 4: Process Order and Checkout

Once completed, proceed to Checkout. Your application is not submitted until your order has been processed and you have received a confirmation email with a receipt. Once you’ve submitted your application, our Registration Department will review your verification and approve it as soon as possible. *Approval email will be sent within 48 hours.

Step 5: Begin Class Registration Process

Once approved, you can begin registering for classes with a membership discount! Your new rate will be automatically applied at checkout. *Please note: Registrations made prior to approval are NOT eligible for discounted tuition. Please wait to register until you’ve received confirmation from our Registration Department.

These additional rules help ensure clarity and adherence to guidelines for applying and using the discount for the advertised classes.

    • Discounts can only be applied to advertised classes.
    • Discounts are not transferable.
    • Discount can only be applied if you fall under the qualifications to receive the initial local resident.
    • Discount cannot be applied to classes in which you are already enrolled.
    • Class cancellations must follow current class cancellation policies.
