Travis Berning was born and raised in Marienthal, Kansas. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Wichita State University in 1995 and continued his education at the graduate level at the University of North Texas. Now based in Flat Rock, North Carolina, Travis lives with his family and works from his home studio. He regularly participates in art shows and is represented by numerous galleries across the United States. His work has been exhibited in prominent shows such as Ceramics USA and featured in publications including Clay Times and Southern Living. A founding member of the WNC Pottery Festival and a member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild,

Travis specializes in functional pottery that is dishwasher, oven, and microwave safe. He also creates raku display tiles, showcasing both utility and artistic expression in his craft.
