Our Student Host and Work Study programs offer unique opportunities for people to learn, volunteer, and participate in the Folk School community for an extended period.

Volunteering in exchange for weeklong classes, housing, and meals at the Folk School, Student Hosts and Work Studies are a vital part of campus culture. Many develop relationships with students, staff, instructors, and community members while here, immersing themselves in the Folk School community through Brasstown carving, concerts, dances, and other public programs.

Applications for 2023 Work Study sessions and 2023 Student Hosts will be open from August 8 through September 18, 2022. All applicants will be contacted in October 2022 regarding session decisions. Please use the contact form at the bottom of this page to reach our Special Programs Manager with any questions you may have.

About our Student Host Program

Student Hosts hold a unique and important role at the Folk School and are involved in the overall life of the school for several months. Serving as ambassadors, Hosts help students and instructors have a rewarding, creative, and comfortable experience, guiding them as they adjust to the living, dining, and studio experience unique to the Folk School. Hosts receive housing and meals during their stay and can take classes every week with tuition covered.
