Padlocks from the Past
Blacksmithing
January 17-22, 2010 (Sunday-Friday Session)
Advanced Week
Instructor: Elmer Roush
Tuition: $527.00
Examine the styles and function of padlocks from the 10th to 19th centuries and, by reproducing them, gain an appreciation for the practical genius of the smiths who made them. Employ techniques such as forge welding, forge brazing, heat treating, and file embellishment to reproduce these padlocks in as close to the original way as possible. For intermediate to advanced students with a sound knowledge of basic blacksmithing techniques.
