American Craft Council Online Artist Directory

We’re delighted that American Craft Council asked us to handpick a selection of works in their Online Artist Directory, available to shop Monday, October 3 through Sunday, October 16, 2022.

Jerry Jackson, our Executive Director, writes:

We are swiftly approaching our 100th anniversary here at the John C. Campbell Folk School and look to the future as much as we reflect on our history. Stewardship has always been a core value of ours, whether related to the craft traditions passed along in our studios weekly or the importance of preserving the distinctive ecosystem of our sprawling, rural campus.

For our American Craft Made collection, we chose to highlight makers that carry on traditions of regional importance, like Joan Cummings with her sweetgrass baskets, alongside those who focus on natural forms and sustainability, like Lisa Fleming and Betsy Bauer. Our collection, selected by myself alongside others from our talented and passionate staff, dovetails with our mission written almost a century ago, that the Folk School inspires “interest in the tradition of the past and the promise of the future.”
