Morningsong
Morningsong – it’s a great way to start the day! This special Folk School tradition, based on the Danish custom of singing, folklore, and camaraderie, brings together folks from all over to share songs, stories, and history most days of the week.
We broadcast Friday’s Morningsong live from Brasstown. To watch live, all you have to do is visit our Facebook Page at 7:45 a.m. until 8:15 a.m. on most Fridays.
Appalachian Traditions Discussions
Enjoy recordings of Appalachian Traditions Discussions, our master-artist-led series on traditional Appalachian craft. These free, hour-long conversations provide a space for instructors in traditional craft to share their personal stories and discuss their creative process. We explore the historic role of craft in Appalachia, examine its continued relevance today, and learn how practitioners are working to promote their craft and inspire the next generation of traditional makers.
Appalachian Traditions is part of a grant-funded program designed to connect highly-skilled Appalachian craft instructors with present-day students. This series, designed in 2020 when in-person activities were suspended, celebrates traditional craft and helps viewers connect with and learn from master artisans.
