
26 Aug Craft Shop Sales Associate
Position Summary
The primary function of the JCCFS Craft Shop Sales Associate is to promote quality craft through knowledgeable and exemplary customer service. The Sales Associate is often the first point of contact for visitors to the Folk School Campus and as such, exemplifies the Folk School’s values and encourages a deeper understanding of our mission and offerings. The Sales Associate greets and assists customers, conducts sales activities, suggests craft items, and provides craft and artist information. The position is a part-time approximately 29hrs/wk non-exempt hourly position. The position includes weekend work and will report to the Craft Shop Assistant Manager and Ventures Manager.
Position Responsibilities
- Engage and greet customers and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
- Demonstrate outstanding customer service.
- Stay knowledgeable about the range of craft, media information, and artists bios.
- Recommend objects and aid customers in finding the best craft for their interests.
- Educate visitors about the Folk School and its offerings.
- Perform sales transactions to include processing sales, balancing cash register, and preparing deposits.
- Assist the Craft Shop Assistant Manager in ordering inventory.
- Assist in all forms of shipping, unpacking and processing inventory, inventory control, and eCommerce order fulfillment.
- Receive and barcode incoming inventory.
- Conduct general facility cleaning and organizing.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements
- High school diploma preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge of Folk School programs and crafts preferred, but not required.
- Experience in retail sales, POS systems, computer systems, use of social media and online retail systems preferred.
- Must have dependable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
- Must be a team player and possess the ability to follow specific instructions.
Physical Demands
The position requires that the employee be able to walk unaided up and down hills and over uneven terrain, bend, stoop, and have use of fine and gross motor skills. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and to work at a computer. The employee is frequently required to use hands to manipulate, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls and to talk fluently. The employee will need to be able to work on his/her feet for long periods of time, lift up to 40 pounds, and be able to work weekends and holidays. This position requires fluency in English.
Pay & Benefits
The pay for this position is approximately $15.50 per hour. The Folk School offers PTO and a tuition free Folk School class each calendar year.
