Standby Program

Please note: Effective January 1, 2022, we will no longer offer a Standby Program for Locals and K-12 Teachers. We'll be announcing the latest opportunities for locals and teachers on our social media channels and eNewsletter. We encourage everyone to sign up and follow us on Facebook and Instagram.

Standby for Local Counties

Full- and part-time residents of Buncombe, Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Macon, Madison, Swain, and Transylvania counties, and Qualla Boundary in NC; Fannin, Gilmer, Rabun, Towns, and Union counties in GA; and Polk and Monroe in TN are eligible for 50% off for any full-tuition class on a space-available, standby basis. Students must present a valid driver's license, voter registration card, or tax bill showing their local address.

Standby for K-12 teachers

Currently employed K-12 teachers with a valid teacher identification card can also qualify for 50% off any full-tuition class on a space-available, standby basis.

All standby students must request "Local Standby" or "Teacher Standby" at the time of registration. The discount does not apply to the cost of class materials, housing, or meals. Students will be confirmed 14 days prior to class start date.
